Community Resource Referral Program
We know the DuPage County service system well and try to give helpful referrals regarding resources to everyone who calls. We maintain an updated database on food assistance, shelters, counseling, crisis pregnancy services, infant needs pantries, government assistance programs, LIHEAP and many other DuPage services.
When a person calls looking for help, our telephone volunteers begin by getting some basic information from the caller. We need to know what town they reside in to better serve them. Based upon that information and the type of help they need, our volunteers are able to access our resource directory and provide the callers with agencies to contact.
We try to give everyone who calls at least two referrals, including a food pantry in their area.
We are continually updating our directory in order to have the latest information available. We also add entries, as we become aware of other resources in the community. We attend several different meetings and ministeriums to learn what other agencies and groups have to offer.
